Spring (March – May)

Crawfish Season

The unofficial start of spring in Southeast Texas. Local restaurants and backyard boils fire up starting in January, but March through May is peak season. Expect mudbugs, corn, potatoes, and cold drinks at every gathering.

Shangri La Garden Events

Spring is the best time to visit the botanical gardens. Wildflowers bloom, migratory birds arrive, and the gardens host special educational programs and guided walks.

Bridge City Fest

The neighboring community of Bridge City puts on a spring festival with food vendors, live music, carnival rides, and community activities. A great family outing.

Summer (June – August)

Fourth of July on the Sabine

Fireworks over the Sabine River are a tradition. Locals line the riverbanks and boat docks for one of the best small-town fireworks displays in East Texas.

Fishing Tournaments

Summer is tournament season on Sabine Lake. The CCA STAR Tournament and local bass tournaments draw anglers from across the region.

Lutcher Theater Summer Series

The Lutcher often hosts special summer performances — check their schedule for concerts, comedy shows, and family-friendly productions.

Fall (September – November)

Orange County Fair

A classic county fair with livestock shows, carnival rides, food vendors, and community competitions. It's old-school Americana at its best.

Friday Night Football

High school football is king in Texas, and Orange is no exception. West Orange-Stark, Little Cypress-Mauriceville, and Bridge City all have passionate followings. Pick a team and show up on Friday night.

Hunting Season Opens

Dove season kicks off September 1, followed by deer season in November. The piney woods and marshlands around Orange offer excellent hunting opportunities.

Winter (December – February)

Holiday Parades and Light Displays

Orange and surrounding communities put on holiday parades, tree lightings, and festive displays throughout December. The Stark House often hosts special holiday tours.

Mardi Gras Season

Being right on the Louisiana border means Mardi Gras is a real thing here. Nearby Lake Charles hosts one of the biggest Mardi Gras celebrations outside New Orleans, and Orange gets in on the fun with local parties and events.

Duck and Goose Season

The coastal marshes near Orange are prime waterfowl territory. Hunters come from across Texas for the duck and goose hunting along the Gulf Coast flyway.
